Fintech Athens 4.0
For the forth consecutive year we’re organizing the two-day Fintech Athens 4.0 conference with keynote speakers from Central & Southeast Europe and the Middle East. The main theme is AI and how it affects Fintech. The twelve panels of the conference will discuss the contribution of AI in Fintech in the credit/financial and payment systems, the public and private sectors, education, tourism and the creative industries. At the same time, the impacts of AI on banking operations and its role to empower startups will be highlighted.
The conference is held in English and its participants are senior officers of ADGM, Amazon, ByBit, DeepMind, Deloitte, EIB, Google, HDBI, Mastercard, Microsoft, PwC, academics from Greece and abroad, as well bank executives. It takes place at the emblematic premises of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and National Bank of Greece, in the center of Athens. The opening takes place on Thursday 30 October at the NKUA Great Hall, Panepistimiou 30, Propylaia. On Friday 31 October the conference will be held at NBG's Karatzas Auditorium, Aiolou 82.

The annual conference Fintech Athens is organized by NBG and the Greek Fintech Hub. It aims to bring together European and international bodies with initiatives from the field of Fintech, facilitating and encouraging dialogue, interaction and networking. Emphasis will be placed on initiatives from Southeast Europe and the Middle East, as well as in the fields of ESG, tourism, research, arts and creative industries.
The Greek Fintech Hub is a Fintech initiative in Greece and other developed economies.
With the aim of strengthening Fintech entrepreneurship, funding innovative businesses in the sector, linking Fintech with research conducted in universities and other research centers, as well as enhancing awareness and networking with similar initiatives abroad, NBG has designed a series of actions:

24th Fintech Talks - Decoding the Chain
Decoding the Chain: Blockchain Technology and the Rise of Decentralized Exchanges
At the 24th Fintech Talks, we welcome Dr Vassilis Polymenis, Professor of Finance, Fintech and Econometrics and Vice-Rector of the University of Limassol, who will be talking to us about Blockchain technology and the rise of decentralized transactions. In this presentation we will explore the key features of blockchain technology and how it is transforming finance, with a view to analyzing decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and highlighting their advantages over traditional systems, such as transparency, security, and user control. Participants will gain knowledge about smart contracts, liquidity mechanisms, and the future of decentralized finance (DeFi).

21st Fintech Talks: RWA - Tokenization in Private Markets
At the 21st Fintech Talks, we welcome Dimitris Koutsopakis, CFA, Senior Manager of Valuations, Private Markets Risk at Aksia Alternative Investments LLC, who will present us the Real World Assets (RWA) tokenization in Private Markets. The term "Real World Assets (RWA) tokenization" includes the conversion of any movable or immovable asset into a digital asset that can be decentrally exchanged on web3 in contrast to traditional centralised public markets. This action is an incentive to activate intangible assets and contracts that have been so far difficult to be managed. Distributed Ledgers Technology (DLT) provides the appropriate means in order to achieve the conversion of RWAs into tokens (IOU) which are issued and held on blockchain. Aim of this presentation is to review the latest DLT developments in the field of investments and research in USA and Europe.

Outlook and potential of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) technology
At the 20th Fintech Talks, we welcome Mr Georgios Samakovitis, Professor of Banking and Financial Technology (FinTech), School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Greenwich, London. He will present the outlook and potential of Central Bank Digital Currencies and the implications of their adoption for both the financial sector and for regulatory authorities. Outlook and potential of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) technology: Impacts and opportunities in the design and management of regulatory frameworks and payment ecosystems.

With more than 30 participants, the 14th Fintech Talks welcomed Dr. Akis Tsekouras, Principal, Advisors Client Services, Mastercard, who presented the use of AI for personalized services and customer experience optimisation. Through international case studies in retail, financial services and hospitality, we learned more about Mastercard's Dynamic Yield service. The meeting ended up with a relaxed discussion in which attendees took part.

We celebrate the success of the Fintech Athens 2.0 conference
With 300 participants, 36 speakers, 8 panels, the second big international conference "Fintech Athens 2.0" of the Greek Fintech Hub came to a successful conclusion.
The conference was held on Friday 27 October in the Karatzas Building, one of the most emblematic NBG buildings.

9th Fintech Talks
At the 9th Fintech Talks we welcome Amazon, which will present to us its new emblematic concept store Amazon Go. Amazon Go is a chain of real stores that uses Just Walk Out technology, meaning that customers never have to queue to check out. This is made possible by the technologies used in computer vision, sensor fusion and deep learning.
Mr. Lefteris Chaniotakis, Sr. Enterprise Account Manager of Amazon Web Services in Greece & Cyprus will make a brief outline on the changes and trends in payments that are leading the innovation environment, spearheaded by cloud computing.
The talk will be held on Thursday 1 December, 18:00 at the Archimedes Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Klafthmonos Sq., Ioannou Paparigopoulou 1 & Stadiou Str.). Afterwards there will be an opportunity for relaxed conversation at the Black Duck Garden bistro.

Greek Fintech Hub Conference
Greek Fintech Hub invites you to the Greek Fintech Hub Conference, our first in-person post-Covid event which will be held in Athens on Friday 21 October 2022, in NBG’s emblematic premises in the center of Athens.
The conference aims to bring together Fintech European and international stakeholders and initiatives, facilitating and encouraging dialogue, interaction and networking. The focus will be placed on the specific sectors of tourism, research, arts and creative industries.

It focuses on: The groundbreaking potential of fintech in the tourism sector, especially post Covid-19 how the quality, choice, and speed of services provided to the customer/end-user are improved the importance of collecting and analyzing user data for the owner of a tourism business how such data improve strategy and future decisions in price and revenue management
5th Fintech Talks: Creative Industries & NFTs
The 5th Fintech Talks explored Fintech's relationship with the Creative Industries. Our speakers are active in NFTs + Arts. It was held online on Thursday 3.2 at 17:00.
The speakers were selected by the Onassis Foundation, co-founder of Greek Fintech Hub.
4th Fintech Talks: The Stock Exchange and its collaborations
The fourth Fintech Talks was held online on Thursday 2 December, at 17:00, with executives of ATHEX and their associates. They spoke about the role of the stock market and ESG practices.
3rd Fintech Talks: Research
We were delighted to welcome the third Fintech Talks online on Thursday 4 November at 17:00, with two keynote speakers from the Fintech research sector. They spoke about cryptocurrency issuance policies and Blockchain technology applications.
2nd Fintech Talks: Crypto & Blochain
The second Fintech Talks was organized with great success online on Thursday 7 October at 17.00 inviting two important speakers with extensive business activity abroad. Mr. Thodoros Georgas, Theodore Georgas, Co-founder & CTO of Nayms , which provides a secure platform for trading of Underwriting Securities and ILS contracts. The company has already received $8M investment funds from major investors, such as Coinbase Ventures & XBTO Group. Giannis Giannaros Co-founder & CEO at Wyre a blockchain based payment platform.
1st Fintech Talks
At the first Fintech Talks Dimitris Vranopoulosco-founder and CEO of Flexfin M.A.E. presented the first independent factoring company in Greece that provides financing and receivables management services to small and medium enterprises in Greece and Cyprus and Filippos Antonopoulos Co-founder & CEO of OKTO the premium payment services services provided by the company to consumers through +5,000 points of sale worldwide, which has now surpassed one billion euro in processed transactions.
