The first international event of the Greek Fintech Hub  on the theme “Leading Innovation in Financial Services” was successfully held online on Thursday 17 June at 17.00. 4 European banks with an active presence in innovation funding participated: NBG, BBVA from Spain, and Sella and Intesa from Italy.

The discussion focused on the following issues: The role of financial institutions in local innovation ecosystems and in Fintech, examples of financing and collaborations, the future of Fintech in Southern and SE Europe, the feasibility of a related network of banks and the impact of its actions.

The event was attended by four fintech companies that have been supported by the banks. From Greece Mr. Alex Kelaiditis, co-founder of Flex Fin, made a presentation   about his company and its cooperation with National Bank of Greece. The aim of the event is to strengthen the relationship between the banks, through discussion and to form a framework of regional cooperation to support the local economy.

The next event is scheduled for autumn. Greek Fintech Hub is an initiative of National Bank of Greece, Endeavor Greece, the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Athens University of Economics & Business, the Onassis Foundation, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels and the   Crowd Dialog for the development of Fintech in Greece, through financing, networking, information, guidance and extroversion actions.
